Everyone matters as you observed. There are the homeliness, junkies, runaways and drug addicts. No religion or ethic background or the reasons we look the other way does not send a message all people matter. I pray for the person who is down on luck or suffers from mental illness. ” We have to carry each other” U2
I’m optimistic change makers will grease the wheel. Talk to our kids when you pass someone on the street or derogatory comments come from their mouth. Ending the stigma takes like minded people to build on current national projects. Believing in the organization. The stigma changes by continual education, job is an up hear battle yet necessary or guilty he stigma we can help if the media shift peoples views on mental illness. Have a good day. I have an outlline for my post on you, finally. My eye’s are giving me so much trouble. Maybe time for a nap, that could help.
    Have a great weekend.

    1. The political dynamic that drives stigma against the mentally ill is very similar to the one that drives homophobia.

It took less than fifty years for us to go from universal condemnation to same sex marriages.

I hope that 50 years from now the government will be forced to pay restitution to families whose loved ones died from lethal neglect on the streets of our cities.

I hope you feel better soon….

      1. Hi Robert
Let’s hope it doesn’t take 50 years, we have to keep educating ourself and sharing the knowledge. I’m half way thru your introduction!!!!!!!! If health allow I’ll post tonight or in morning.
You are a complex, intellectual and multitalented. I’m spending time our your site to get a better feel for who you are. I’m so overdue it’s embarrassing. My health is slowing me down, I have very little eye site after dark. I always love to here, the problem is with your brain not your eyes. I don’t want to know everything like usual, when I see the specialist I’ll know.
Have a great day so I can get back to intro post.

      2. I am completely surprised that same sex marriage has happened in my lifetime.

It shouldn’t take fifty years for us to realize that some people might actually need long term hospital stays as part of a publicly funded mental health system.

The fact that we once had one that we dismantled means we have a blueprint for how it should work.

      3. I am very interested in the subject, I’ve reading several sites to help me understand the issues gay and same sex marriage face. I think people are uneducated and want to avoid the subject. My interest started with the question of domestic violence, rape…….on & on. It has to be happening. I think people are afraid to talk about and it doesn’t get reported.
More bigger picture is hard to get.
        🙂
