Love Aretha Franklin. One of the most pure voices in recording history. Effortless. This song is one of my sons’ faves. His name is Jack so he enjoys that aspect. Love the art!
I got my first kiss from a girl because of Aretha Franklin. I was ten and visiting my Grandmother in New York. I was born in South Carolina and the girl lived in my Grandmothers neighborhood in Queens. This girl was about 16 and very pretty. She loved the song “Respect” but could not understand the lyrics, so I wrote them down for her. Absolutely true. She kissed me on the cheek which caused me to nearly faint. She also gave me a gift. It was an album I’d never heard before by a group named “The Beatles.” It was called “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” — And so began my love affair with music. π
Great story! Sgt. Peppers could certainly inspire that in someone. What part of SC by the way? I spent a large chunk of my childhood in Charleston and eventually Spartanburg.
I always thought of it as living on the corpse of an ancient mummy. That doesn’t mean that I didn’t have fun…I suppose it’s human nature to have mixed feelings about the old home town.
Such a perfect combination of music & visual arts. Gave me an incredible smile and relaxed feeling almost immediately. Relaxation with a beat, lol. Real real real nice post!!
Great piece, and a great song. G-uno

Charleston’s a great town. Haven’t been there in years but spent all my summers there as a kid.
