The Wonder of it All Photo Credit: Unknown

Simply put…I LOVE this picture!!! It might be one of my favorite photos that I have ever put up on my blog under the titles of “Pictures That Speak Volumes.”

Just look at the face of this precious child as he looks upon the President of the United States. Complete awe and wonder. Total shock and adoration at the same time.

Then check out the faces of the people in the background: I don’t know if they are his parents or not but chances are…they are. Observe the joy and happiness in the smiles and faces.

Like I said…a beautiful, joyous and heartwarming picture…priceless!!

Iraq-Vet Kills Himself … Writing Before A Powerful Indictment…

“The simple truth is this: During my first deployment, I was made to participate in things, the enormity of which is hard to describe. War crimes, crimes against humanity,” wrote Somers. “Though I did not participate willingly, and made what I thought was my best effort to stop these events, there are some things that a person simply can not come back from. I take some pride in that, actually, as to move on in life after being part of such a thing would be the mark of a sociopath in my mind. These things go far beyond what most are even aware of.”

Somers was assigned to a Tactical Human-Intelligence Team (THT) in Baghdad which saw him involved in more than 400 combat missions as a machine gunner in the turret of a Humvee, in addition to his role in conducting interrogations.

Somers’ suicide note is a powerful indictment of the invasion of Iraq and how it ruined the lives of both countless millions of Iraqis as well as innumerable US troops sent in to do the dirty work of the military-industrial complex.

Flickr Wednesday: Amba Coltman

This week’s Flickr Wednesday re-blog

Art by Rob Goldstein

Amba Coltman is also known as Amba Lee on Flickr.

This is from a Testimonial on Amba Coltman’s profile page from another Flickr Member whose opinion I respect:

Rich Eye says:

Amba is one of the most talented artists I know on Flickr. Her photo-stream is a demonstration of what can be done in this format we call digital art. I know of no one on Flickr who demonstrates her ability to create in such a variety of styles. She is passionate, compassionate, and ever surprising in what she creates next. She follows her own muse.”

To this I add that I completely agree.

Today I’m honored to present the art of Amba Coltman:
