With A GOP This Dishonest, Who Needs Putin?

I stumbled across this GOP attack on Tim Kane on the Internet Archives.

It’s a variation on the Willie Horton ad.

There is no attempt to discuss the serious problems that face
the citizens of the United States.

There’s no mention of healthcare, income inequality, Social Security or
job loss.

Released October 4, 2016

The ad says that Kaine “consistently protected the worst kinds of people.”

What the ad doesn’t say is that as a Civil Rights Lawyer who often worked
pro-bono, Tim Kane was fulfilling his Constitutional Duty as required by the 6th Amendment:

“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.”

In the mid in the mid-20th century the Supreme Court ruled that defendants who couldn’t afford to hire lawyers had the right to public defenders. But the basic fact of it is pretty inviolable. There is no crime so heinous in the US court system that a lawyer is not permitted — even obligated — to speak in its defense. Vox

It’s noteworthy that the GOP attacks Hillary Clinton for doing the same thing:

Screenshot from an attack ad against Hillary Clinton for doing her job as a public defender.
Hillary Clinton was a public defender. Defending people who could not afford counsel was her job and duty under the U.S. Constitution.

For the truth behind the lie that Hillary Clinton freed a child rapist please read Snopes.com.

With the RNC using disinformation campaigns to subvert the political process, who needs Vladimir Putin?

  1. Reblogged this on sherriemiranda1 and commented:

I have tried to stay away from politics, but at a time when one group is accusing the other of lying, we should know their lies too!
Yes, there are a bunch of lying politicians. Let’s start organizing for a 3rd, 4th & 5th party. Let’s support Bernie’s work. Let’s try to truly become a Democracy!
    Peace & transparency,
Sherrie Miranda’s historically based, coming of age, Adventure novel “Secrets & Lies in El Salvador” is about an American girl in war-torn El Salvador:
Her husband made a video for her novel. He wrote the song too. You can go to the Home page of her blog to watch it:
Or you can see it on YouTube:

    1. I know that many Bernie supporters disagree with me but I don’t think that Sanders would have supported Hillary if he didn’t think she could strategically help him to make some of the changes that he wants. The fact is that the President must represent ALL of the people which means that in our political system the ability to make agreements and reach a compromise is essential.

At this point is is obvious that the GOP has used and continues to use a psychological weapon to misinform and smear its political opposition and now the GOP has lost control. This morning the big story is a thwarted right wing plot to blow up an apartment complex. The GOP and its media are responsible for this.

We need to vote the GOP out of power and treat its media announcements as lies until the GOP can prove that that it has learned how to engage the people of the United States in a civil, fact based debate.

    1. I’m dismayed because its evident that the GOP has no intention of disabusing its base of these lies. In fact, I don’t think the national organization understand that Trump IS the result of these strategies of fear mongering and lies.

  2. Dear Rob,

We do not want any of the above. All we need for evil to win is for good men to do nothing.

Thanks for your voice and for all the bloggers out there, speaking up for something better.

    Hugs, Gronda

    1. I hope that people are paying full attention. I encourage all voters to go to the Internet Archives and view the ads the GOP is airing in swing states. It appears that the GOP’s problem with Trump is not his dishonesty and amorality. It is his inability to lie with finesse.

This link will take you to the archive for the National Republican Committee, the ads are shocking examples of political cynicism: https://archive.org/search.php?query=creator%3A%22Republican+National+Cmte%22
