It is impossible to overstate what Trump has dismantled in the last 16 months.
… And He Is Us
Some may think that I am over-reacting when I say that Donald Trump, with his decisions last week to renege on the Iran nuclear deal and to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, has seriously jeopardized our relationship with our allies abroad. I realize that I am sometimes considered, especially by my republican friends, to be a purveyor of ‘gloom and doom’, an alarmist. But this morning I was directed to an article in the German publication, der Spiegel, a well-respected publication, that reinforces my opinion. I think it is very important that we, as citizens not only of the United States, but also of the world, realize and comprehend just what we have lost, what our friends think of us now. One can criticize ‘globalism’ as much as one likes, but the reality is that we are living in a global world, we…

It does seem to be reaching a tipping point, especially when the main stream press is willing to state flat out that he’s lying.

So funny you say that. I just mentioned that to my husband that since his lies escalate at lightning speed, I’ve noticed in this past week how much more free TV journalists are to be blatant instead of skirting around issues and using the word ‘alledgedly’ has become passe!

We’re not Russians. Americans have never had a perfect Democracy but it’s never been this close to a tyranny. Let’s hope we’re not so far gone that we’ve forgotten how to use our right to assemble and demand accountability.

Amen to that! We can’t count on the rethuglicans, so Go Blue!

I’d vote for a conservative if I thought he would restore integrity and the rule of law to our government. The one gift Trump has given us is the sight of principled conservatives uniting with liberals to preserve our democracy. This is America at its best.

Oh yes. The fact that we let this happen is a stain on the generation in power.

Yes, and hopefully the younger generation will restore sanity and humanity.

The terrible tragedy of Nazi Germany is that in the beginning,
most of the German people opposed Hitler, but they fell silent
because they didn’t think he would last
Or because they weren’t personally affected
Or because they thought they were too civilized
Or because they thought Hitler would listen to ‘reason’
Even as Hitler’s government implemented and expanded
The Nuremberg Race Laws.
Even as the ‘snowflakes’ of the ashes of murdered Jews
filled the air around the slaughterhouses the German
people chose not to act.
Yesterday Trump’s government shot and killed Claudia Patricia Gómez Gonzáles.

Today we learned that Trump’s government took 1,500 migrant children away from
their parents and ‘lost’ them.
It has begun.
Our kids can’t stop this by themselves.
Remember the White Rose.

Rob, I know all of what you speak about. I’ve read many, many books on WWII, holocaust and the 3rd Reich. It is exactly the same. I’ve been talking about that with friends. Nobody believes such things could happen, but they do. Only tRump’s regime is blatantly obvious what he’s doing. The worst of all those cult people are the rethuglicans who don’t protect the constitution for the love of money and don’t question a damn thing he does. The people must rise up now! #prayforNovember

The problem is the GOP is stacking the courts.
This is how the Nazi’s took control.
In January 1933 Hitler became chancellor of Germany and by August 1934 he was a fully empowered dictator.
This is a step by step illustration of how it happened.

I know very well. I’ve read many books and seen many documentaries about the beginning of a dictatorship

I fluctuate between hope and fear. I now take hope in the fact that the legitimate press is no longer backs down on calling Trump’s lies, lies.

I agree, Rob, and the fear is very real.

I’ve spent my life fighting the idea that I don’t deserve to live, that I am a pervert and somehow shameful. When the United States elected Obama and the Supreme Court ruled that I have a right to marry another man I thought I had finally won my right live my life as a free man in one of history’s great democracies.
I was wrong.

Don’t be discouraged Rob, there are a lot of people trying to change this. I applaud your site. Keep on trying.

I get discouraged but I also remember that humanity has seen this evil before and we have survived it. I need to know that I will leave this world in better shape than I found it. I hope that the adults of the world will unite to fulfill our duty to the future.
