Hi Rob. I’m sorry to be late. I was sure I had checked for new posts…
I see your simple yet touching words really struck a chord with many. As Mary said, you are certainly both now.
Scott does lovely work — of course he had a terrific subject. But I like that he subtly hinted at the palm tree in the background. I don’t remember how long he was staying bur I hope you have/and had a wonderful visit. Hugs to you both.

Thanks, Teagan. Never worry about being late. I very much enjoyed my visit with Scott. He also brought some books that I first got when I was 16. It’s interesting to read what I scrawled in the margins.

Thanks Robbie. I’ve spent the past two days visiting with my old friend, Scott who returned some books and sketches that went missing thirty years ago. That line was scrawled by my younger self in the margins of a book of poems by Allan Ginsburg.

Scott is a brilliant artist; I’m honored that he did sketches of me. Thank you, Mary.

Thank you…I was 28 when I wrote that line. I think it was inspired by John Lennon’s ‘God’, which I understood as affirming the self by denying the self.

I can’t relate much to the “artist who doesn’t make art” line, as my visual arts skills are nonexistent. But I definitely feel like a writer who’s not a writer.

That could be written about me…only I don’t make art…anymore.
Love the portrait. 😘
