Thank you. It was written two years after the homicide of my Mother. My relationship with my Mother was already dark and conflicted. ‘Ascent’ was one of my first real poems and an experiment with symbolism and collage.
Powerful poem, Robert. Such elation at the start, and that anchor at the end. It was fascinating. Well done.
