The Cohen Hearings: Is This Who We Are?

I’ve spent most of the day watching Michael Cohen give testimony.

He seems tormented and determined to redeem himself.

This felt like a day of reckoning for Michael Cohen and the American people.

The President represents the People; and our ‘ethos’ as a People is an expression of who we are as individuals.

Donald Trump is a sadistic crook: is that who we are as individuals?

“When we’re dancing with the angels, the question will be asked: In 2019, what did we do to make sure we kept our democracy intact? Did we stand on the sidelines and say nothing?”  Rep. Elijah Cummings, February 22, 2019

I’ve gathered segments of Cohen’s testimony from different news outlets
for the sake of comparison.

Rob’s Weekly Wrap-up 02/15-02/22

This week started with much ado about Trump’s Fake Emergency followed by the stark midweek revelation from Andrew McCabe that trump is a suspected enemy agent, at best, unwitting. In the meantime North Carolina gets a new congressional election, the FBI arrested a violent white supremacist for planning to unleash a chemical weapons attack against everyone on Trump’s political hit list, a judge gagged Roger Stone and Robert Mueller is and is not soon to release his report on #TrumpRussia, maybe.

On a personal note, therapy is rough as I come to terms with the years I lost to my illness.

Rob’s Weekly News Wrap-up 2/08-2/15

Trump’s corruption, lies, psychopathology, and possible participation in a conspiracy to steal the 2016 election dominated this week’s news cycle.

Trump dramatically declared a national emergency when he submitted to Nancy Pelosi and signed her bill to keep the government open without funding for his racist wall.

The important news this week is from the Mueller investigation:

and we have a new Attorney General:

On Friday we had another preventable mass shooting.

On a personal note, I had a productive week, a couple of my projects took place
off-line for a few days so I could not blog, but I’m back now.

Politics: Be informed, not influenced.

January was a lifetime for news junkies.

Every day is another month of corruption and narcissism and treason.

There is no Trump without Putin and the chaos and random violence that
plagues our lives the result of a long-term and ongoing Russian attack on American Democracy.

Putin’s declaration of war is a classic gaslight: we elected his puppet, he didn’t make us to vote for it; or did he?

Americans should find foreign intervention intolerable in our public debates and elections intolerable.
Americans should find foreign intervention intolerable in our public debates and elections intolerable.

Vladimir Putin’s Information Warfare is a psychological theater of cruelty where the people of the ‘target nation’ are convinced to turn on each other each other, while a small cadre of criminal oligarchs steal their wealth and freedoms.

To accomplish a ‘regime change’ Putin unleashes an arsenal of psychological weapons designed to distort our perceptions of reality.

This includes staged events.

Putin calls these strategies ‘Active Measures’.

An active measure can be anything, such as inciting or paying anonymous
thugs to attack a beloved performer while shouting right-wing slogans.

I am not saying that his is what happened to Jussie Smollett; I’m saying the trump administration and the GOP have done nothing to protect America from Russian Active Measures so we have no way to be sure.

Nothing is at it seems until we know all the facts and see them verified by multiple national and international news outlets.

If you see appeals to emotion and divisive propaganda ask yourself why you’re seeing it.

Be angry that we have a president who incites violence when you hear reports of hate crimes against gays and people of color; don’t be angry with anonymous straight white people.

Be informed, not influenced.

If you live in a democracy, you are under attack.
