The Encouraging Thunder Award

Encouraging Thunder

The Encouraging Thunder Award comes to me from Danica at Living a Beautiful Life. Her blog is varied and inventive.

Her most recent post is a short story in which her readers voted on the ending.

Beyond her excellence in blogging is her contribution to the Word Press community as a member who extends herself to others.

Thank you for the honor of this award, Danica.

Rules for this award:

  • Post it on your blog.
  • Grant other bloggers the award.

What you cannot do:

  • Abuse or misuse the logo.
  • Claim that it is your own handmade logo.

What you should do after receiving the Encouraging Thunder Award:

  • Enjoy the award!
  • At least give thanks via comments, likes and/or mentioning the blog that you received the award from.
  • Mention your purpose in blogging.

I began to blog as a way organize the story of my life into a coherent narrative as part of my psychotherapy. The therapeutic process is slow and painful and I find that I have to spend two minutes recovering for every minute I spend working. As my blog has evolved I’ve developed an interest in advocating for the right of all citizens with mental illnesses to healthcare and housing.

The government made a promise to fund alternatives to the State Hospitals when it closed them.

We have lived with the degrading consequences of that broken promise for over a generation.

It should outrage every U.S. citizen to see the mentally ill brutalized by the pauperism, needless suffering and the neglect  that we through our government promised to prevent when we voted to close the State Hospitals
