8 Simple Tips For Living A Better Life With MS

My symptoms began in 2007 while I was on vacation in Florida.  Little did I know at that time that my world would change forever with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.  I have experienced an array of symptoms and have found some fairly successful habits I have used to help offset the side effects of MS.  Here are some simple tips for living a better life with MS:

 Walk every day

One of the goals I have for myself is to walk every single day without exception.  Evelina and I have a dog and he requires being walked which guarantees I’ll be outside at some point taking a stroll.  For those who cannot walk I recommend standing up and sitting down or maybe doing leg and arm lifts.  Even if you are confined to a wheelchair, you can do some…

Eggshells

from Beauty Beyond Bones

Have you ever baked a cake with a toddler?

If you haven’t, well, let’s just say that it’s…an experience.

giphy-27

A cute, photo-op filled, splatter-fest, that, if you’re lucky, results in a cake that’s barely holding on for dear life.

This happened today.

You see, we’re celebrating my now-four-year-old niece’s birthday tonight while we’re all up at our lake home in Wisconsin for the Fourth of July.

And so this afternoon, part of making today special for her was to bake her birthday cake together.

She loves cooking in the kitchen, especially when it involves something sweet, so needless to say, she was having a ball.

And if you know anything about almost-four year olds, they are very independent, and want to do things themselves. And baking this cake was no different.

I’ll tell you what, the Type A perfectionist in me was doing everything I could to not just grab…

from Living a Beautiful Life

Living a Beautiful Life

“You’re going to want to double those risers.”  The instructor walks over to me before class starts and motions to my step platform set up.

“You think so?”  Looks fine to me.

“Oh yeah.”  He steps up and down on my platform to demonstrate.

“You’re taller than me.”

“You’ll be bored.”

Hmm… maybe?

“While you’re at it double the plates on your barbell.”

“Even though I’m just getting back into an exercise regimen?”  Risk of unconsciousness and all that.

“Oh yeah.”

Okay, then.

Rock you like a hurricane!  Scorpions blast out at us.  My kinda boot camp, I smile.

“Run laps around the room!”

It’s early morning

Running?  Nobody said there would be any running —

The sun comes out

“Sprint at the far wall!”

Last night was shaking

“Faster!”

And pretty loud

“Scissor run!”

My cat is purring

No, dude, you’re not passing me

Scratches my skin

“Drop!”

So what is…

Why Is It So Hard to Make Dreams Come True?

On making dreams come true from Dream Big, Dream Often.

Dream Big, Dream Often

I am not surprised at the number of people who never live the life they want to live; or at least live the life they fantasize about in their mind.  There’s a lot that goes into making a mental image become something tangible.  Someone once said that making dreams come true isn’t easy or cheap which is why Disney is so darn expensive!  And although it is a joke, making a dream become something real is not easy and definitely not cheap.

If you don’t believe the words I have just typed, then take your own time and conduct interviews of people you know.  Begin with a few people you know who have dedicated themselves and lost a lot of weight.  Then interview small business owners.  Then interview a local city council member.  Then interview your boss.  If you speak to…
