San Bernardino School Shooting: How Do You Explain Murder to a Child?

It’s horrible that we and our children have to live like this.

My daughter is brave, smart, and, I’ve been, told advanced. But could her little body manage a bullet fired by a gunman who bursts into her classroom with revenge on his mind, fueled by psychotic anger blinding him from all rationality? Parents in San Bernardino are asking themselves a similar question, as their city suffered yet another tragic shooting. This time at an elementary school, no less.

A special-education classroom at North Park Elementary on Monday received a surprise visit from a familiar man who regularly visited the school, where his wife taught. But on this day, he stormed in with a gun firing despite a room full of kids ranging from 1st graders to 4th graders. His wife died at the scene in the hail of bullets, and an 8-year-old boy who was critically wounded died later that day at a local hospital. A…

I Heard The News Today

do you think we ask ourselves if taking on a human body was worth it when we die?

The Sick and the Dating

I woke up this morning to a message that was sent to me around midnight telling me, “I know you were friends with Bart [not his real name]; just wanted to let you know that he died after a confrontation with the police Wednesday morning.”

I wasn’t awake to chat back and forth, so I had to do some searching of news articles when I saw the message. There was actually quite an extensive write-up as well as video clips so I was able to get a complete picture from the law enforcement’s viewpoint of what happened.

The hard part was seeing pictures of his dwelling and recognizing the side of his building. Bart was so proud of everything that he did to fix his place up. I still remember walking through his door and smelling his split pea soup.

Bart and I weren’t close friends; in fact…

Trump Wants To #Gaslight Us, Don’t Let him

Gaslighting is what narcissists do best.

They can also Gaslight groups of people.

Art by Rob Goldstein
Gaslighting is an insidious form of Abuse and a method of control.

Did Donald Trump call for someone to assassinate Hillary Clinton:

Here’s what he said:

Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, and if she gets to pick — if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day. If, if Hillary gets to put her judges — right now we’re tied. You see what’s going on. We’re tied, ’cause Scalia, this was not supposed to happen. Justice Scalia was supposed to be around for ten more years at least, and this is what happens. That was a horrible thing. So now look at it. So Hillary essentially wants to abolish the Second Amendment

Here is what he wants you to think he said:

He tweeted, “I said pro-2A citizens must organize and get out vote to save our Constitution!”

There’s nothing you can do, folks does not sound to me like a call to get out the vote.

Here’s the deal, if we have to wonder if a narcissist is up to something, he’s up to something.

If you find yourself thinking you’ve heard something ugly but the narc says
you misunderstood, you haven’t.

This man is running a cult and it’s a dangerous one.

Donald Trump and his flying monkeys are trying to gaslight us into making him President.

Don’t let them.

If this is a call to assassinate the democratic nominee Trump is a domestic terrorist.

This is from the Washington Post:

Republicans at all levels frequently argue that one of the primary purposes of owning guns is so that you can use them to kill representatives of the government, whether police or soldiers, when they become too tyrannical. As Ed Kilgore reminds us, “During her successful Senate campaign in 2014, rising GOP star Joni Ernst of Iowa used to happily talk about the ‘beautiful little Smith & Wesson’ she carried with every intention of using it to defend herself and her family from ‘government, should they decide that my rights are no longer important.’ ” And she was hardly the first — we hear that kind of thing from Republicans all the time.

Now combine that with the NRA’s constant warnings that if Democrats win the next election they’re coming to confiscate your guns, and everybody knows exactly what Trump was saying.

His defense — that he was only encouraging people to vote — is utterly nonsensical. Remember that he said, “if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.” He was talking about what the “Second Amendment people” might be able to do about Clinton picking judges, which happens after she has already been elected.

Finally, this comes after Trump has been trying to delegitimize the results of the election before it actually happens, claiming that the vote will be “rigged.” If you’re arguing to your angry, heavily armed supporters, who already think the federal government is tyrannical, that there’s a conspiracy afoot to steal the election and that your opponent will be sending jackbooted government thugs to confiscate their guns, you don’t get to pretend that when you say that the “Second Amendment people” might be able to stop the next president’s judges from subverting their gun rights that it’s all innocent and you would never contemplate something as irresponsible as encouraging violence.

I want to take away your guns

While I don’t entirely agree with the idea of taking away all guns, this is an opinion that needs to be shared. This man should not have to fear for his daughter’s life. Not in a civilized nation.

waltbox

The one and only purpose of guns is to kill.

The desire to own guns, and the notion that owning them is some inalienable right of Americans, points to a sickness. The symptoms have been made clear.

I don’t wish to offend anyone who thinks differently, but I can’t imagine a greater offense than the gun violence we’ve seen this year, and the refusal of some to change our laws regulating ownership.

You may say that a law restricting gun ownership is the first step towards taking away your guns.

I hope it is.

Because I want to take away your guns.

You may be a responsible gun owner.

I don’t fucking care.

You feed the monster that is more powerful than Black Lives Matter, more deadly than White Cops, more blind than “Justice.” You feed The NRA, and the business of making money selling guns.

And my daughters may…
