Dear Republicans, You’re Dealing With The Devil By Supporting Judge Moore For The US Senate

from Gronda Morin

Gronda Morin

In response to mass shootings,Congress will never offer more than "thoughts and prayers" as long as it's beholden to contributions from the gun lobby.

Dear Republicans supporting the election of Judge Roy Moore of Alabama for the US Senate seat  on December 12, 2017, you need to do some real soul searching.

The Republican National Committee has decided to back Judge Roy Moore’s election again after previously having withdrawn its support. It is proof that their having a republican in the US senate is more important than their knowingly backing an alleged pedophile (in his early 30s when he was a local district attorney) with credible reporting from numerous women who have come forward; mall personnel who recalled having security escort him out of the premises as he had a penchant for hitting on high school girls, and a co-worker deputy district attorney who states that Judge Moore’s penchant for dating very young girls was an open local secret in GADSDEN , Alabama.

Dear Republicans, here is a James Baldwin quote that you need…

Newt Gingrich and The Art of the Smear

In 1995 GOPAC was a right wing group chaired by Newt Gingrich.

Gingrich produced a handout called Language: A Key Mechanism
of Control

It was a list of 113 words for use in attacks on progressive ideas
and democrats.

“Words and phrases are powerful,” wrote Gingrich.

“…memorize as many as possible and remember that like any tool, these words will not help if they are not used.”

“Apply these (words) to the opponent, their record, proposals, and their party.”

The words on his list were: “traitors, betray, sick, pathetic, lie, liberal, radical, hypocrisy, corruption, permissive attitude, greed, self-serving, ideological, anti-flag, anti-family, anti-child, anti-jobs, unionized bureaucracy, impose, and coercion.”

To be clear, Newt Gingrich and the Republican Party did not offer 113 new policies the GOP might write to win an honest political debate.

The GOP  chose to poison our politics by smearing Democrats and suppressing the vote.

Today the GOP violates Democratic norms.

Today the GOP writes cruel legislation in secret, and spreads Russian style propaganda in political ads.

Today, Newt Gingrich is a propagandist for Vladimir Putin.

In American Democracy the people are the government.

As citizens we pay taxes into a common fund which we use to promote the
public good.

The public good is public education, housing, healthcare, and nutrition for
our children.

We provide access to these essentials because a person without class
mobility is not truly free.

These are my daily affirmations, repeat after me:

Smear campaigns are not public policy

Words have meaning.

I will not be conned.

Government is instituted for the Common Good

I know this lady who was raised in a very depraved environment.  She, her mother and her siblings were treated as if they were the private property of her ‘father.’

This young lady had been worked, raped and nearly beaten to death.  She was not allowed to go to school so she never learned to read.

Throughout her teen years, her ‘father,’ who had been her main abuser, gave his friends permission to violate her in any number of ways.  As a result, she gave birth to six children; each with a different man. Her father sent several of the children away because he said that it wasn’t his responsibility to feed them.

Sadly, the young lady was never told of their whereabouts. Before long, she and her remaining children suffered the same fate.

This young lady, who had nothing but the clothes on her back and three children in tow, did…

Don’t cede your power

A few choice thoughts about narcissism

Several blogs have been focusing on the impact narcissists have had on their lives. These narcissists have controlled their lives through an overbearing presence which is built on a foundation of deceit and greed to elicit devotion and attendance to their needs. When the victim does not kowtow enough, the narcissist makes the victim feel he or she is to blame and lessens his or her standing.

An old friend who counseled teenage students at school would often say “Don’t cede your power.”You choose to react to situations, not others, so don’t give your control or power away. True, it is harder to do this with a narcissist, as the abuser is very adroit at making others feel they are at fault. Donald Trump accuses others of lying and cheating when he has lied and cheated at a record clip in his life and during the campaign and is on trial…
