I had a horrible day at work, we were short staffed, it was wicked busy, and I desperately needed to get the Hell out of there and remember that I am a writer.

The shindig was at The Next Generation Theater, which is where we taped The Nite Show before we moved into our new home at The Gracie.  Returning to that theater brought back some wonderful memories.

My first connection with the show was as a guest five years ago to promote The Retirement Party.  Right there at The Next Generation Theater.  The taping fell on Rachel’s birthday, and The Girl Who Moved Away was in the audience and more than a little tipsy.  I was so nervous in front of the lights, cameras, and…

The flag has been flying proudly from the front porch of The House on the Hill all day.  Our country might be in turmoil, but we’re still Americans, still patriotic, and we still owe so much to the men and women who have served this great nation.

Since it’s Friday night, and it’s been a very long, trying, challenging, and confusing week, I decided I would leave the basement bunker to open up the Think Tank for my fellow Modern Philosophers.

There’s so much to talk about, so much to debate, and so much planning for the future that needs to begin immediately.

This Hopeless Romantic might wallow when it comes to affairs of the heart, but when the issue at hand is America’s future, I’m all about moving forward immediately.

“Tell me a joke, Writer Boy!” The Devil demanded as he stormed out of the house to interrupt my afternoon of placid reflection and creativity.

He handed me an ice cold Snapple, and then stood over me so that his shadow fell across the screen of my laptop.

“I’m not going to tell you a joke,” I replied coldly, hoping that he’d take my icy response as the hint to leave me the Hell alone that it was meant to be.

“Isn’t your job to make the audience laugh?” Lucifer queried as he took a sip of his Snapple.  “I’m a typical audience member, so amuse me.”
