Only a Tramp

Art by Rob Goldstein
Clarion Alley, July 19, 2016

Only a tramp was Lazarus that begged.
He lay down by the rich man’s gate.
He begged for crumbs from the rich man to eat
But they left him to die, like a tramp on the street.

And, Jesus who died on Calvary’s tree
Shed his life’s blood for you and for me.
They pierced his side, his hands, and his feet
And, they left him to die just like a tramp on the street.

He was Mary’s own darling; he was Mary’s own son.
Once he was fair and once he was young.
And, Mary she rocked him, her little darlin’ to sleep
But, they left him to die like a tramp on the street.

When the battles are over and the victory’s won
Everyone mourns for the poor man’s son.
Red, white, and blue and victory sweet
And, they left them to die like a tramp on the street.

Merrick Garland Deserves A Vote For Democracy: Op-Ed By Barack Obama.

If Republicans in the Senate refuse even to consider a nominee in the hopes of running out the clock until they can elect a president from their own party, so that he can nominate his own justice to the Supreme Court, then they will effectively nullify the ability of any president from the opposing party to make an appointment to the nation’s highest court. They would reduce the very functioning of the judicial branch of the government to another political leverage point.

Poverty is Child Abuse

Poverty is Child Abuse

Heads up! I’m a Social Justice Type.

In 2014, 14.8 percent of the people of the United
States
of America lived in poverty.

33.3 percent of those people were children.

Neglect is a considered a form of child abuse.

Neglect is the willful withholding of food, protection, and
proper housing
when these resources are clearly present.

Neglect is any action that interferes with a child’s growth
and development
, especially when the resources to enhance
growth and development are also clearly present.

The neglect of a child is always an abuse of power because
children are always at the mercy of adults.

Poverty in a Nation as rich as the United States of
America
is actually neglect and neglect is Child Abuse.

Poverty in the United States is child abuse.
